  • Originally issued as the #404 School Pen, but that ran afoul of the Gillott #404 School Pen. After Gillott sued Esterbrook, the number was changed to #444. The earliest image below is a salesman sample book from a year or so after the lawsuit, and they’re obviously using old 404s with the new label.
