  • “A Turned-up Point, Medium Stiff, for Rapid Writing”
  • “Turned up point; very smooth and pleasant writer.”
  • “Turned-up Point for Rapid Writing, Fine”
  • One of the first turned-up points made by Esterbrook.
  • In American Stationer, Feb 12, 1891, p. 331. There is a small article titled, “Turned Up Point Pens” which says, “In 1876 the Esterbrook Steel Pen Company produced its 1876 Telegraphic, followed shortly after by No. 256 Tecumseh, and No. 309 Choctaw. At the special request of many the Falcon pen was made in this style. Another pen has now been added to the list, and is known as No. 477 Postal. This is a size larger than the Choctaw, with finer points.”
  • The Turned-Up point was the second solution made by Esterbrook to create a smoother writing experience.
  • The first solution was the stub pen. According to the article mentioned above, the first Esterbrook model with a stub nib was No. 161 which was introduced in 1871, and in 1891 there were more than 18 styles of stub pen sold by Esterbrook.
  • The third solution was the Oval Point, or Round Point, where a very small indent is made at the end of tip so that you’re writing on a rounded surface rather than a pointed tip.
