Esterbrook #2 Silverene

Description:

  • Name(s): Silverine No. 2
  • Shape: Colorado
  • Finishes: Silver
  • Tip: Pointed
  • Prices: 75¢ per gross (1876, 1879, 1883, 1887)

Comments:

  • See Esterbrook #180.
  • Like the Colorado and Oblique pens, the “No. 2” on this pen refers to its place in the Silverine series rather than the official Esterbrook model number.
  • These pens sit squarely in the brass Colorado pen line, but were made from an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc called German Silver. Other pens often made from this alloy include the red ink pens and laundry pens.
  • “A good pen for red ink.” (1883, 1890)
  • These pens are stiff and cannot flex without deforming.
