Esterbrook # 312 Judge's Quill |
Description: This pen has a straight body with a stub tip. The vent hole is a "V" shape. Medium flex. Gray finish, gold finish. |
Remarks: A good writer. The line modulation comes from the stub tip rather than any flexibility. The name of the nib, "Judge's Quill" reflects the notion that existed from Rennaisance times through WWI that each occupation or specialty should have its own unique individual clothing, headwear, and accoutrements. Esterbrook followed this fashion by marketing dip pen nibs named after an assortment of professions and purposes. This marketing was intended to induce judges to purchase the Judge's Quill, the lawyers to purchase the Barrister's Pen, school children to purchase the School Pen, etc. Description in 1938 Esterbrook Catalog
"Judge's Quill - Flexible, fine stub. Long nibs. Gray finish. Gold plated"
Description in Esterbrook Pens and What They Will Do
"Gray. A large engrossing pen. Fine point."
