Esterbrook # 126 Double Spring |
Description: A straight body with a fine, sharp point. Oval vent hole. "L" shaped shoulder slits. A wide "V" cutout in waist area, presumably to increase flexibility. Good flexibility. Folded over edges at side of body in waist area provide extra material to prevent breakage at the ends of the wide cutout. An ingeniously shaped piece of brass could probably be inserted between the tabs, thereby creating an under-reservoir. Grey finish. |
Remarks: The writing sample does not fully exhibit the flexibility of this pen since I was deliberately trying to use minimum pressure. However, some line modulation comes through anyway. The folded edges contribute to difficulties in thoroughly cleaning this pen. One web site has this pen noted as having a reservoir. Introduced in the 1883 Esterbrook Catalog "#126 The Double Spring Pen – Gray – A fine pen; very elastic" Description in the 1938 Esterbrook Pen Catalog
"Double spring - Very flexible, fine. Gray finish"
